Centre-Right Coalition Campaign Viable Option
Centre-Right Coalition Campaign Viable Option
ACT leader Richard Prebble said today the centre-right needs to show that we can form a viable alternative government to the left.
"The invitation to National's finance spokesman, Dr Don Brash, to speak at the ACT regional conference in Christchurch today is just a logical step towards coalition building.
"The parties need to have a clear understanding of each party's priorities.
"Dr Brash's speech went down very well with the ACT party membership. "I believe the electorate is sophisticated enough to realise that under MMP, coalitions are inevitable, and it is more democratic to be upfront and open before an election, rather than relying on behind closed doors, secret deal-making, after an election.
"I
have taken the opportunity today to say that I believe the
centre right should campaign the next election on a
platform of no more race-based policies. Let's have one
law for all," Mr Prebble
said.
