Labour Cooked By Its Own Hangi
This tax and bride Labour Government must stop wasting taxpayer's money on the charade that is the Maori Television Service, ACT New Zealand Broadcasting Spokesman Deborah Coddington said today.
"Maori TV will never get off the ground. The real agenda has always been to keep Maori in political acquiescence, dangling the prospect of their own TV channel like a kumara in front of them," Miss Coddington said.
"Now that Derek Fox has quit, the Government has been cooked by its own hangi.
"Fox nearly defeated Parekura Horomia at the 1999 election. Labour is already in trouble over the foreshore and seabed issue. Lets see what sleazy deal they do to try and keep Fox from resurrecting his political party and taking Labour's Maori vote.
"More than $80 million has been thrown at Maori TV. This money should be classified as `election campaigning'.
"Maori TV is pakarued and it should - as I said on Monday - be dumped," Miss Coddington said.
