Release rapist's parole conditions
National's Police spokesman is urging the Parole Board to release the parole conditions of multiple rapist Michael Carroll.
Carroll has been paroled despite being turned down twice previously.
"While it's inconceivable that this dangerous man should have ever been released, people living in his community have an absolute right to know what his 'special' parole conditions are," says Tony Ryall.
"Carroll was obviously able to convince the Parole Board he should be let out, but how can the public be sure he won't strike again?
"It's all very well for the Board to say that Carroll's risk to the community had been substantially lessened. Let the community judge for itself if the conditions of this rapist's release are safe," says Mr Ryall.
"People are understandably fearful when they hear that dangerous offenders like Carroll are on the street. Case after case of failed parole conditions have hit the headlines recently and that's why Carroll's conditions should be released."
