Dunne: Sell-out Greens on way out

Despite having accepted that GE is here to stay, the Greens are again trying to be the tail that wags the dog with their move to position themselves as Labour's long-term partners and oppose a future National-led government, United Future leader Peter Dunne said today.

"They moved to a nodding acquaintance with reality at the weekend by finally facing up to the folly of their GE position, but Rod Donald still seems to think that they are there to call the shots," Mr Dunne said after the Greens indicated at the weekend that a GE New Zealand is better than a National-led New Zealand

"Well, I've got news for him: the New Zealand voter will decide who runs this country after the next election, and not the Greens.

"And when the Kiwi voter has decided the direction the country will take, United Future will be there to help make it work, just as it is doing today bringing stable government.

"The Greens have just sold out on their bottom line, and bought themselves a new one - never with National.

"This is the beginning of the end for them. You know a party is finished when it starts questioning its own relevance," Mr Dunne said.
