Valuing workers on May Day with 4 weeks leave

Valuing workers on May Day with 4 weeks leave

Working conditions and numbers in employment are steadily improving under the Labour Progressive Government, and the Progressive 4 Weeks Leave Bill will top that good work off, says Matt Robson MP, Progressive Deputy Leader.

"Valuing workers by legislating for 4 weeks annual leave will provide fairness for lower paid workers who need good breaks as much as well paid workers. It will help working parents care for their children. 4 weeks annual leave also contributes to health and safety in the workplace as tired and stressed workers can endanger themselves and their colleagues.

"On May Day this year we can celebrate: - more jobs and lowering unemployment rate, now at 4.9% - a 14 year low, - improving minimum wages at $6.80 for youth and $8.50 for adults, - today's announcement of $85 million for industry training, - excellent economic development work, which contributes to job growth around the country - fair and reasonable employment law.

"The Progressives are proud to be part of the government which is creating jobs, improving minimum wages and boosting industry training. We are also proud to be promoting 4 weeks annual leave for all workers.
