Jobs key to secure, smart future
The
Progressives celebrate the Labour Progressive Coalition
Government's breakthrough in unemployment, now below 100,000
receiving the core unemployment benefit.
"Sustainable, well paying jobs are the major priority of the Progressive Party", said Matt Robson MP.
"Creating jobs is the single most important thing we can do to secure a positive future for New Zealand and New Zealanders. That is why we are celebrating the breakthrough to less than 100,000 people (98,178) receiving the core unemployment benefit.
"Work gives people confidence and independence which make for a stronger, safer and happier community.
"Unemployed people do not want to stay on benefits, they want jobs so they can support their families with good housing, health, nutrition and the best opportunities for children to do well in school.
"More people working means we are generating more income and will be able to fund health, education and other social services for all our citizens.
"If we can harness the potential of all people looking for work then we will have a much stronger future," said Matt Robson MP.
