Joris de Bres takes PC to new extremes
The National Party's taking aim at the Race Relations Commissioner after suggesting private businesses should adopt Maori names.
"His comments were unsolicited and, no doubt, totally unwanted by the nation's private sector businesses - Joris de Bres should pull his head in," says National Party MP Murray McCully.
"Mr de Bres should restrict himself to poisoning the public sector with his peculiar brand of political correctness, and let the private sector organise its own affairs.
"These are private businesses, Mr de Bres has no place meddling in their commercial affairs," Mr McCully says.
"Would Mr de Bres also require private businesses to consult with Maori before adopting a culturally acceptable name?
"However, there could be some businesses that will wish to seriously consider his advice, so they can cash in on the vast array of grants available through Te Puni Kokiri to Maori organisations only," jokes Mr McCully.
