Where: Steps of Parliament House

Labour & Green MPs Hacky with the World’s Best Minister of Youth Affairs, John Tamihere, and Green MP Nandor Tanczos will play hacky sack on the steps of Parliament with the double world-champion footbag player at 9.30am on Wednesday 19 February to promote the Fringe NZ youth day - V Freestyle.
Fringe NZ has brought Ryan ‘the regulator’ Mulroney over from California to demonstrate the talent that has brought him two world titles in hacky sack (otherwise known as footbag) before the age of 23. Ryan Mulroney and other urban youth role models will be at V Freestyle event on Saturday 22 February from noon til 4pm at Chaffers Park.
The politicians are involved because they see V Freestyle as offering young people free outdoor fun, while tutoring them in activities that encourage a sense of community.
“At a time when young people are getting a hard time in the media, it's great to be involved with celebrating young people enjoying healthy and safe activities,” said Minister for Youth Affairs, John Tamihere. “I'm also looking forward to seeing whether Nandor's daily practice pays off against a world champ!”
“It’s quite good John Tamihere being there, because I won’t be the only one humiliated by the world champ,” said Nandor Tanczos.
The goal of V Freestyle is to provide positive role modelling for inner city and suburban youth in a safe setting.
In
addition to V Freestyle, Ryan will also appear at the Seapa
Footbag Jam in Cuba Mall at 8pm on Friday 21 February and
the Seapa Footbag Nationals at the Te Papa Amphitheatre from
noon on Sunday 23 February.
