The committee is scheduled to meet for the first time in 2003 on Thursday, 13 February.

The committee met in Auckland for two days this week to commence hearing evidence on the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Bill, and to hear evidence on its financial reviews of the Counties Manukau, Waikato and Northland district health boards.
The committee will next meet on Monday, 10 February from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, when it will continue to hear evidence on the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Bill. This will be in room G.002, Parliament House, and will be open to the public.

The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 12 February, at which it will continue its consideration of the Retirement Villages Bill, the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Bill and the Clean Slate Bill. The date by which the committee is to report to the House on the Retirement Villages Bill is 28 March 2003, while the report date for the two clean slate bills is 2 May 2003.
Submissions have been called for on two further items before the committee. The date by which submissions on the committee’s inquiry into the 2002 General Election are due is 17 March 2003. The deadline for submissions on the Supreme Court Bill is 28 March 2003 and the bill has a report date of 16 June 2003.
Maori Affairs (Miles Reay, SC-MA@parliament.govt.nz)
On Thursday, 13 February the committee will be considering the Maori Purposes Bill (No 2). A hearing of evidence from Te Mangai Paho (the Maori Broadcasting Funding Agency) in relation to its financial review has been deferred until Thursday, 20 February.

The committee will meet on Wednesday, 12 February to continue its regular scrutiny of new government regulations.
Transport and Industrial Relations (Kath Henderson, SC-TI@parliament.govt.nz)
The committee did not meet this week. On Thursday, 13 February it will hear evidence on the 2001/02 financial reviews of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission and the Maritime Safety Authority.
