Health Minister Annette King’s statement today that she is implementing population-based funding is just not true, ACT New Zealand Health Spokesman Heather Roy said today.
“The Minister has instead targetted the most funding at boards which have run up the biggest deficits. Boards that have worked hard to live within their means have been passed over in favour of the big boards with the big debts.
“Inside sources indicate the Government has indeed moved away from equitable population-based funding, which was to have taken effect from 1 July 2003.
“Instead Labour is more interested in
minimising political flak caused by boards with large
deficits trying desperately to play catch-up,” Mrs Roy
said.
