Belgian royal couple to visit New Zealand
Prime Minister Helen Clark announced today that the Crown Prince of Belgium, Prince Philippe, and Princess Mathilde, arrive in Auckland on Saturday for a four-day visit.
A 40-member business group, led by Federal Minister and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Annemie Neyts-Uyttebroeck, will accompany the royal couple.
In Auckland their programme will include a Maori welcome and welcome by the Belgian community, a business luncheon, and visits to the Ellerslie Flower Show, the America’s Cup village, a Te Kohanga Reo unit, and the Muka Gallery and studios.
In Wellington Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial, and attend a ceremony of welcome and official dinner at Government House.
Meetings with ministers are also scheduled, along with a Wellington Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
