Hawkins Supplies More Dodgy Figures
Hawkins Supplies More Dodgy Figures
The Police Minister has been caught out providing dodgy crime figures again, ACT New Zealand Police Spokesman Dr Muriel Newman said today.
"After being condemned for his "interim" crime figures during the election campaign that had nothing to do with reality, I would seriously have thought Police Minister George Hawkins had learned his lesson.
"But in the last week he has supplied similarly baseless answers to my parliamentary questions about car break-ins and similar crimes. I have been informed by police personnel that the Minister's figures are not representative at all - I've been told that I have been provided with only a sample of the information that should have been provided.
"Mr Hawkins has left the
police open to attack. Police officers should not have
to waste their time accounting for the Minister's
ineptness - it's not fair on them, and it's not fair on the
public either," Dr Newman said.
