MPs Call For People To Join GE Free March Tomorrow
Green Party Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons is urging
people to join the GE-Free march in Auckland tomorrow.
Ms Fitzsimons said it was still possible for the public to stop the GE moratorium being lifted next October.
"But the only way to do it is to make our voices heard. We have to get out there and let the Government know New Zealanders do not want GE in our environment.
"The Government, scientists and agencies like ERMA are already acting as if the moratorium has been lifted. We have to put the brakes on now," she said.
Ms Fitzsimons and fellow Green Party MPs Keith Locke, Nandor Tanczos, Ian Ewen-Street and Metiria Turei are all taking part in the GEtup, Stand up March, organised by MAdGE and other GE-Free groups. It starts in Aotea Square at 12 noon and ends with a rally in Albert Park.
All Green Party MPs taking part in the march will be available to the media on the day on their cellphones:
