Standing Up To Racism And Political Scapegoating
Ethnic communities are tired of being the targets of racist attacks and political opportunism, said National MP Pansy
Wong today, speaking at the March against Racism in Wellington.
"Ethnic communities have found their voices and will not be silenced. We will not lie down, we will fight alongside our
fellow New Zealanders for a shared future where there is one true standard of citizenship and no room for racist and
opportunistic politicians.
"I would welcome an open and honest debate on immigration, but we are yet to hear one from New Zealand First. Winston
Peters has made ethnic communities a political scapegoat for every imaginable problem, whether or not the facts actually
stack up.
"All New Zealanders were migrants once - we just arrived at different times," said Ms Wong.
