Government Trying Hard, Means Well But…
New Zealand First’s spokesman on Law and Order Ron Mark has dismissed the Governments’ recently announced initiatives on youth crime as well intentioned but inadequate.
“We need to do more than create another army of politically correct sociologists holding meetings and wringing their hands.
“The long term solutions are simple and basic. Young people need boundaries that do not move. Young people need guidance and discipline. Young people need to understand that when they offend the first time they will be dealt with. Young people need to learn respect for the law and other people. Young people want tough love and they need parents who have decent jobs that pay decent wages. These are the only things that will work in the long term.
“I know about these things because I was one of these at-risk kids,” said Mr Mark.
