Statement On Appointment Of Reserve Bank Governor
Thursday 22 Aug 2002
ACT New Zealand Acting Leader Ken Shirley said today he hopes that in his new role as Governor of the Reserve Bank, Dr Alan Bollard will maintain the integrity that Don Brash brought to the position.
"We are very anxious that Dr Bollard's contract is subject to the negotiation of a new Policy Targets Agreement.
"The independence of this role is of paramount importance. I hope that Dr Bollard will be able to maintain his integrity in the face of pressure from politicians," Mr Shirley said.
