Roadley Deserves Plaudits For Efforts
"Retiring Fonterra chairman John Roadley deserves the gratitude of all those involved in New Zealand's dairy industry for his huge contribution to the sector," says National's Agriculture spokesman David Carter.
"John has had a long involvement in dairy industry and was a leading light in the eventual formation of Fonterra - the country's biggest corporate entity.
"His decision to step down after the company's annual meeting next month will leave an immense gap, but I am confident new chair Henry van der Heyden and his fellow directors are equal to the task ahead.
"The company is currently dealing with a number of difficult issues and I look forward to working with Fonterra's board to ensure it's the success all New Zealand dairy farmers - and the entire economy - needs it to be," Mr Carter added.
