Laila Harré in front in Waitakere
Alliance Leader Laila Harré has released poll results today which put her clearly ahead in the Waitakere electorate.
The poll of Waitakere voters conducted by CBG research puts Laila Harré in front on 27.5%. Labour Candidate Lynne Pillay is in second place on 19.4% of the vote and the National’s Marie Hasler is in third place on 18.9%.
Laila Harré said the poll shows support for her growing steadily over the last week and while she didn’t “want to count her chickens before they’ve hatched, things are looking good for me to win Waitakere.”
“This poll shows that people in Waitakere understand they can vote for me with their electorate vote and the party they want with their party vote and that it won’t hurt their party’s national result.
“I’ve been getting very good feedback as I’ve been out and about in Waitakere and this poll backs that up. I’ve enjoyed working for Waitakere in Parliament over the last 6 years and I hope to be back in there after July 27th to continue that work.
27 % of the poll’s respondents were still undecided, although the poll shows that Laila is picking up 60% of the undecided vote. It also shows an increase in the number of Labour party supporters who understand that the Labour candidate will get in to parliament regardless of the electorate vote because of her high placing on the Labour list.
The poll results are shown on the following tables and are also available on the Alliance website, www.alliance.org.nz
