English Offers Condolences At Diplomat's Death
"I am shocked and dismayed to learn of the tragic death of New Zealand's deputy high commissioner to the Solomon Islands Bridget Nichols," National Party Leader Bill English said from the United States today.
Mr English conveyed his condolences to Ms Nichols's family, friends and work colleagues.
He said Bridget Nichols had enjoyed a distinguished career since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade 10 years ago, where she was highly regarded as a professional in her work.
"National fully supports any steps the Government may introduce to upgrade security at New Zealand foreign offices around the word that will increase protection of this country's diplomatic representatives and prevent such a tragedy happening again," Mr English concluded.
