Moth Problem Needs Ministerial Visit - Cunliffe
Titirangi MP David Cunliffe today called on Biosecurity Minister Jim Sutton to visit the West Auckland Painted Apple Moth programme.
“West Aucklanders have a number of important concerns about the programme. I want the Minister to hear these first hand through the Community Advisory Group”, David Cunliffe said.
“MAF’s operational plan is overdue and it is past time this was presented. In my view MAF should take full account of the constructive suggestions of the Community Advisory Group (CAG) led by Kubi Witten-Hannah”, David Cunliffe said.
“While all precautions for human health must be taken, the last thing we need is spraying being delayed while the moths spread further” he said.
“I call on Hon Jim Sutton, as the responsible Minister, to visit West Auckland to meet with the CAG and to review progress” David Cunliffe said.
