Arts employment imitative to be launched, Friday 9 November 2001

A new nationwide Work and Income NZ arts employment initiative – PACE (Pathways to Arts and Cultural Employment) – is being launched tomorrow by Social Services and Employment Minister Steve Maharey and Associate Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Judith Tizard.

PACE is being launched at:

Kingsland Central Showroom and Studio, 5 Central Road (downstairs), Kingsland, Auckland
3.30-4.30pm

Steve Maharey and Judith Tizard will be meeting with two Auckland artists, Sparrow Phillips and Paulus McKinnon, who have been helped by Work and Income NZ to develop a sustainable career in the arts. Paulus was last week named by the National Business Review as an artist for collectors to invest in.

Kingsland Central Showroom and Studio is currently exhibiting work by emerging artists who have been through the Arts Work professional development course - New Space - funded by Work and Income NZ. Antony Deaker from arts advocacy group The Higher Trust will also be on hand to brief journalists on how PACE is working in Dunedin.

Full media kits will be available at the launch and will also be distributed to non-Auckland media.
