"Ten of the new police who graduated today will be joining the North Shore/Waitakere Police" said Mr Hawkins. "And there are more to come."
Three more wings of around 60 each are due to graduate from the Police College by the end of November.
"It takes time and effort to recruit and train high quality police, and it is always a buzz to see high calibre men and women graduating from the Police College and joining the fight against crime around the country" said Mr Hawkins.
Mr Hawkins said police numbers nationwide are looking healthy. "As of yesterday we had 7078 sworn police, including those at the Police College" said Mr Hawkins.
