Published: Tue 15 May 2001 12:44 AM
The Employers & Manufacturers Association (Northern) is welcoming the Construction Contracts Bill about to be introduced to Parliament.
"The Government and Associate Commerce Minister Laila Harre are to be congratulated for introducing this bill to protect the smaller subcontractor when property developers firms go into receivership," said Alasdair Thompson, EMA's chief executive.
"When big firms go bust, smaller businesses have often carried heavy losses; the new law should help prevent this happening.
"Business will be pleased that lawful redress is being made available in these circumstances."
