Hey George, Slow Drivers Cause Crashes Too

Published: Fri 15 Dec 2000 03:01 PM
Slow drivers who cause the majority of driving aggravation and rashness appear to be ignored, said ACT Transport spokesman Penny Webster.
“George Hawkins has stated the Highway Patrol will focus on ‘speeding drivers and those who flaunt road laws’
The Highway Patrol will specialise on policing New Zealand highways and roads. It is designed to reduce road deaths and injury from road accidents.
“Police Minister, George Hawkins, is seeing only half the equation.
“The new Highway Patrol should make sure it focuses on all causes of road incidents. New speed camera limits already target speeding drivers, but slow drivers should also be under the spotlight.
“If our roads are to be safe this summer all contributors to the road toll need to be tackled,” said Penny Webster.
