New Chairman For RNZ

Auckland company director, Brian Corban, has been appointed Chairman and Governor on the board of Radio New Zealand Ltd for a three-year term, the Minister of Broadcasting, Marian Hobbs, announced today.
Mr Corban succeeds John Isles, whose term expires at the end of the month.
Mr Corban has had previous experience in the broadcasting sector. He was Foundation Chairman of Television New Zealand Ltd and before that, Deputy Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of New Zealand. He also chaired the Ministerial Advisory Committee that led to the formation of Radio New Zealand Ltd and Television New Zealand Ltd.
Ms Hobbs thanked Mr Isles for his services to public radio. He served on the board of RNZ and the preceding establishment board, for seven years, the last two as chairman.
Ms Hobbs said Mr Corban brings a wealth of experience in his new role having also served on other media boards including the New Zealand Listener Ltd.
He is Chairman of Genesis Power Ltd, one of the three state owned enterprises created from the split-up of ECNZ. Mr Corban also advises a number of businesses and institutions, is active in community organisations and is Chairman of the Melanesian MissionTrust Board.
