Parekura Confused About Web-Footed Quackers

Published: Thu 19 Oct 2000 04:21 PM
The Minister of Maori Affairs' bizarre answers to questions in Parliament today show he is clearly very confused, National MP Wayne Mapp said today.
"While ducking questions on whether he supported Paul Swain and Helen Clark ruling out Maori claims to oil and petroleum, Parekura Horomia attempted to deflect attention by claiming the Opposition were 'web-footed quackers'.
"The only 'web-footed quacker' in Parliament is Trevor Mallard, not members on the opposition benches.
"I don't know where the Minister has been hiding in the House that he hasn't heard Mr Mallard quacking. In fact he has quacked so much that he has been thrown out of the House four times this year.
"It's time that Mr Horomia made up his mind about whether he supports his constituency or if he's going to take a dive in Cabinet every time he comes under pressure from his colleagues," Mr Mapp said.
