More reasons not to turn health system on its head

Govt. delivered more reasons not to turn health system on its head

A survey out today showing high levels of satisfaction with people's experience in public hospitals is more evidence against the Government's massive health restructuring, National's Health spokesperson Wyatt Creech said today.

"The survey carried out by the Health Ministry shows nearly 90% of participants think their hospital experience was good or very good.

"Hospitals should be proud of these results. It is good to see so many people satisfied.

"The Government should also sit up and take notice.

"Of course our health system and hospitals can always improve, but we should be building on what we have now not turning everything upside down as planned by the Government.

"These survey results are yet more reasons why the Government's health restructuring amounts only to damaging upheaval.

"MPs sitting on the Health Select Committee are receiving many other reasons from health professionals and other regular New Zealanders worried about the increased bureaucracy, increased fragmentation and damaging impact of the health restructuring.

"The Government must not ignore the warnings about the impact of its restructuring on our health services."
