The Government will hold three briefings simultaneously today - Tuesday - at 3pm to launch the proposed partial prefunding of New Zealand Superannuation policy.

Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton, Finance Minister Michael Cullen and Social Services Minister Steve Maharey will hold a joint press conference for the media in the Beehive Theatrette after which Dr Cullen will give a presentation on the details of the proposal.

Representatives from the other political parties have been invited to a briefing to be conducted by the Treasury in Parliament Buildings at 3pm. The Government has also offered to brief the other party caucuses at some mutually convenient date.

They can choose to have those briefings led either by Treasury officials or by Dr Cullen.

Today superannuation industry heads, sector group leaders, economists and other experts in the area have been invited to a 3pm briefing in the Treasury.
