Greens urge residents to make submissions on ferry wash
Marlborough-based Green MP Ian Ewen-Street today urged locals to make submissions on slowing fast ferries in the Marlborough Sounds, saying the community needed to speak decisively on the issue.
Submissions can be made to the Marlborough District Council on a council bylaw which is being drafted to cut the speed of fast ferries in Tory Channel and Queen Charlotte Sound. The Council originally wanted all submissions in last Thursday but will accept them up until this Thursday.
"The impact of fast ferries on the Sounds has been huge, and feedback from the community must reflect the scale of the problem," he said.
"This submission process is an opportunity for all the people who have been affected by fast ferry wash. I know many, many people have been affected in one way or another and I urge them to all have their say.
"That way an accurate and clear picture of the problem will emerge and, instead of arguing over whether there are in fact problems, we can simply get on with solving them," he said.
