MONETARY POLICY STATEMENT – THE RIGHT DECISION SAYS PETERS
The Rt Hon Winston Peters MP, Leader of New Zealand First, today said that the Reserve Bank’s decision, announced today, to leave the Official Cash Rate unchanged at 6.5% is the right one.
“The last thing the economy needs right now is an increase in the cash rate and an increase in high interest rates. In fact, there is reason to believe the rate is too high already given the outlook over the next twelve months of declining growth,” said Mr Peters.
