Appendix. Membership of the Community and Voluntary Sector Working Group

Dorothy Wilson (Chair) a former Deputy Mayor of Waitakere City, is currently a consultant in sustainable development and change management. Dorothy has a long history of involvement in community affairs, including leadership roles in local government, resource management, and participation in community organisations.

Sandra Alofivae serves on the Board of Presbyterian Support Northern and lives in Manukau. A youth advocate and solicitor specialising in representing young people in criminal matters, Sandra is involved in many Pacific peoples community organisations.

John Angus is a senior official with the Ministry of Social Policy. A former social worker, John headed a Community Services Team in Dunedin before coming to Wellington. In recent years John has on social policy issues including family and community policy.

Don Clarke is the NGO Programme Manager in the Development Co-operation Division of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Formerly Executive Director of the Council for International Development, Don acted as primary founder of the Association of Non Government Organisations of Aotearoa. He was also Deputy Director of the Commonwealth Foundation between 1995-1998, the inter-governmental body responsible for promoting capacity building and collaboration within the broad Commonwealth NGO sector.

Enid Leighton is the General Manager of Ngati Awa Social and Health Service and lives in Whakatane. She has a background working in disability support services in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and is currently completing an MBA through the University of Waikato.

Malcolm Peri is an Auckland counsellor who has been working in community-based Mäori social services for many years.

Atareta Poananga is a lawyer, Gisborne District councillor and trustee of Te Runanga o Ngati Porou. Atareta has extensive experience working among whanau and hapu on social, economic and political issues.

Sir Paul Reeves, former Governor-General of New Zealand, brings his considerable expertise in constitutional matters and civil society and is acknowledged for his work in church, community and voluntary groups.

Donald Shand is the Programme Coach in the Community Development Group of the Department of Internal Affairs and has been involved in community development for many years, including his work to establish the Community Development Group within Internal Affairs.

Jenny Smith is a senior community worker with the Christchurch City Mission and initiated the development of Te Whare Roimata, a grassroots development organisation which works with inner city residents. Jenny has a long background in a number of community organisations.

John Stansfield is the founder and programme leader of UNITEC Institute of Technology's Graduate Diploma in Not-for-Profit Management. A Waiheke Island resident, John was formerly a trustee of the island's community health trust and is a specialist in social auditing.

Pam Warren is the Executive Officer of the Dunedin Council of Social Services and has extensive networks in the rural community.
