Rod Donald abducted by aliens
"Green Party co-joint-leader Rod Donald seems to have been abducted by aliens and replaced with an extraterrestrial lookalike," National's Senior Whip John Carter said today.
"Mr Donald wrote a holier-than-thou press release today castigating National for delaying the second reading of the Income Related Rents Bill, which will leave 280,000 low-income people worse off than those living in state houses.
"The Rod Donald lookalike went on to say: 'National needs to get the message that it cannot get away with deliberate stalling tactics to subvert the effective workings of Parliament... we all have better things to do than put up with their silly procedural games designed to delay legislation'.
"Can this be the same possum-skinning, tree-loving, tofu-munching Rod Donald who spent the past three years running to journalists in paroxysms of ecstasy every time he managed to filibuster over a bill promoted by National?
"Or has he been genetically modified?
"It's a bit rich for Mr Donald to suddenly claim the Government now has a right to railroad policy, with negative implications for many, into law.
"We are the Opposition, and lousy legislation like the Income Related Rents Bill gives us plenty to oppose. Don't expect us to roll over and play dead just because you've suddenly had a change of heart Rod.
"If aliens have indeed abducted Rod Donald, they should take back the current replacement version and keep them both," John Carter said.
