Recount In Tauranga – Cabinet – Chechnya - Middle East Peace – Timberlands – Nuclear Y2k
RECOUNT IN TAURANGA: The National Party will be lodging an application for a recount in Tauranga. A spokespersons for the Chief Electoral Office says counting of special votes will be completed today.
CABINET: Positions in the Labour/Alliance cabinet will announced today. The ministers will be sworn in tomorrow.
CHECHNYA: Russia’s Foreign Minister has given an assurance that it will not bomb civilians in Grozny. The minister made the assurance in a phone call to the Finns.
MIDDLE EAST PEACE: Israel and Syria are about to resume peace talks following a visit from US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
TIMBERLANDS: A Christchurch sawmiller says that it will take legal action if Timberlands walks away from an application to log native timber on the West Coast.
NUCLEAR Y2k: Russia’s Nuclear Weapons commander says the Russian nuclear arsenal is ready for Y2k.
