EAST TIMOR: Indonesia has said for the first time that it may be prepared to accept a UN security peace-keeping presence in East Timor if the referendum result is strongly in favour of independence. Australia says it is prepared.
ANSETT STRIKE: Transport Minister Maurice Williamson has said he will speak to the immigration minister about arrangements for foreign pilots to assist Ansett to deal with an epidemic of illness. Ansett has cancelled another 20 flights today due to the sickness of pilots.
