CHECHNYA: Chechnya has declared a state of emergency as Russia is continuing to bomb rebels in Dagestan.

SUB-ZERO SNAP: Sub-zero cold snap forecast to hit Southland and Otago around midday today. Temperatures could drop as low as –10 degrees Celsius. Farmers say they are prepared.
