INCIS: The NZ Herald leads today with a report that Police Commissioner Peter Doone last night laid blame for the $104 million Incis debacle squarely on its architect, computer giant IBM, which is walking away form the half-finished system. The story is accompanied by a panel showing the history of INCIS with a policeman pictured at a computer terminal. In another report on INCIS Herald IT Editor Chris Barton reports that the saying "no one ever got fired for buying IBM" is losing its gloss.

- POLL WOES FOR GUMMINT: a report that National's electoral woes have spilled over to PM Jenny Shipley, with Labour's Helen Clark now heading her as the most preferred PM. In the latest Herald DigiPoll survey, 19.5% named Clark as preferred PM to 17.6% who opted for Shipley.
- SKY AND RUGBY: a report that Sky has lost its right to replay rugby World Cup matches after a TVNZ decision to screen all the games live;
- LAND FOR SALE ON MARS: a report that internet users have been urged to report dodgy e-mail investment opportunities after a Sydney man was offered a block of land on Mars for a little as AUS$10;
ASSASSINATION: The editorial argues that Samoa should repeal the death penalty.
