SNOW: Snow caused havoc with power, schools and the roads in the South Island today and kept the North Isalnd very cold. Ski fields are preparing to open fully and there have been no serious road crashes as a result of the weather.

WOODSTOCK: A riot at Woodstock 1999 took police three hours to control. Trucks and trailors were looted and burnt out as some of the 150,000 strong crowd went on a rampage.
