1. KENNEDY - The five day search for the bodies of John F Kennedy jnr, his wife and her sister is over. They have been taken by hearse to a local morgue after they and the wreckage of a plane they were in wer found minutes from the runway at Martha’s Vineyard. President Clinton has said that he ordered the search to go on longer than usual, because of the special place the Kennedy family had in America.
2. KENNEDY - The rituals of grief have changed since America buried JFK, then America watched and now people take a more personal form of grieving, with informal memorials springing up around the US.
3. KENNEDY - A reporter from outside the Kennedy compound says that the Clinton Administration has confirmed that Kennedy will be cremated tonight and his ashes buried at sea. No confirmation of what will happen to his wife and her sister, but it is believed that they will also be buried at sea. Divers will continue tomorrow to retreive the wreckage of the plane, investigation expected to take nine months.
4. EX-CON - A woman convicted of killing her husband in a bizarr ritual has led to the closure of a Kohanga Reo. She was working there after her release from prison. She says it is unfair, she has done her time and is determined to work there.
5. FARMER DEAD - This time last year a Waikato farmer was the centre of attention as he fought to keep flood waters from his farm. Today he was found dead, there were no suspicious cirucmstances. He had spent the last year battling to improve flood control in the area.
6. WHANAU ROW - A single name change is causing a big fuss in parliament. Maori have objected to the use of the word whanau in the Children, Youth and Whanau services. Labour backed them up. The Government changed its mind saying they will use the word family as it is no big deal.
7. BRIDGE - A new North Shore crossing is a step closer, but a bridge is still 20 years away.
8. HERCULES - The US TV show Hercules has
shot its last scene in New Zealand after pumping $150
million into the economy. Two new series are starting
filming
shortly.
