BAN SMOKING IN RESTAURANTS: The government wants all smoking in restaurants banned and Tuariki Delamere wants this clause added to a private members bill next week. There would be no exceptions.
CHRISTCHURCH HOSPITAL: 700 ex patients have been screened after the sterilisation scare at Christchurch Hospital - half of all recalled.
ANOTHER MAORI LEADER IN COURT: Another Maori leader appeared in court charged with assaulting a woman earlier this year in the wellington Court. He has name supression. Dick Dargaville spoke out today and said he did not argue mana and that Maori have a poor record on domestic violence. Locals say he should not have got name supression
WATSON TRIAL: The jury today heard more evidence of lewd behavior from Scott Watson last New Years Eve. Witnesses said Watson asked about women with "big boobs", made reference to penis shaped objects and said he would quite like to sleep with one woman. Others said his behaviour was obscene and crude and that he grabbed at one woman. One witness said he was sexually explicit with young women he was inviting to his yacht.
NEW PRISON WING: A new remand wing was opened at Christchurch Prison today as part of a big upgrade.
BURGLARS: Burglars have stolen $500,000 worth of top quality home ware, designer ware and luxury items from the Auckland CBD. Police say the thefts are stolen to order and are probably local.
METEOR: One News has video pictures of the meteor that buzzed the North Island last week and scientists are excited by it.
