- Iroquois - 5 of the Air Force's Iroquois helicopters are to be fitted with replacement rotor blades, after a crack was found in one of them. - Labels - The warning labels on caffeinated energy drinks like Red Bull and 'V' are to re-worded. The change has been approved by the Australian and New Zealand Food Standards Council, and follows growing international concern about Red Bull which has been linked to 3 deaths in Sweden. Until now the cans have carried a warning that the drinks are not suitable for children or people sensitive to caffeine.
- Pie Umphant - 2 and a half years ago Saroun and Eng Lach didn't know what to do with a pie filling. Now their Lower Hutt bakery is credited with making the best pie in the country. The Lachs fought off competition from 273 other bakeries to win the supreme award. As news of the win spread, so did the queues - the lunch crowd looking for a taste of the country's best steak mince and cheese pie.
- New Zealand Premiere - Lord of the Rings' director Peter Jackson has revealed a hobbit secret.
