DOHERTY COMPO: David Dougherty is to get nearly $900,000 compensation for the more than three years he spent in jail after being wrongfully convicted of the abduction and rape of an 11-year-old girl.
MAN IDENTIFIED: Police have named a man whose body was found in a Waikato hydro lake on Tuesday. He was Jason Johnson, 32, of no fixed address.
FIJI MURDERS: Fiji Police say Gregory Scrivener’s fingernails were missing from his left hand because the pathologists had removed them to collect DNA evidence. Scrivener’s family say Gregory and Fiji Red Cross director John Scott were tortured then murdered.
CHRISTINE RANKIN: Social Services Minister Steve Maharey today faced a grilling from opposition MPs over the Christine Rankin court case and who will succeed her as the head of Work and Income. Dame Margaret Beazley has taken over Christine Rankin’s job until a new appointment can be made.
