Chatroom Hero – Clarkson Murder – Forgiven Former Ministers – Kids TV – Monteith’s Victory – Crowe Celebrates

- CHATROOM HERO: A Kiwi teenager helped the FBI head off a school massacre plot. The FBI is hailing the South Auckland girl as a hero. She got her mother to call police while chatting on the Internet with an American boy who told her he was considering taking a gun to school to kill his classmates. NZ Police called Interpol who contacted the FBI. The FBI said the boy had the typical profile of a school mass murderer. The New Zealand girl is a counsellor on the web site where she chatted with the boy. The boy has been suspended from school and given counselling.

- CLARKSON MURDER: Police have charged the four who were charged with the aggravated robbery of Nicholas Clarkson with his murder.

- FORGIVEN FORMER MINISTERS: Dover Samuels has been made an undersecretary to Jim Anderton, and the prospect is there from a further promotion. Marion Hobbs has returned to Cabinet, but she has not taken back the senior Biosecurity position, which stays with Jim Sutton. Helen Clark said the Government wanted an end to politicians’ pasts being put on the rack. National’s Roger Sowry said he will be targeting Marion Hobbs, as an underperforming minister. With the prospect of a return to cabinet for Ruth Dyson, Phillida Bunkle is now the only former minister whose future is uncertain.

- KIDS TV: Repetitive commercials during afternoon kids TV will be banned under a voluntary code for the kids TV after school time.

- MONTEITH’S VICTORY: DB has changed its tune on Monteith’s – the brew will still be brewed in Greymouth following outrage at DB’s decision to shift production to Auckland. Production will now be shared between the two breweries.

- CROWE CELEBRATES: Russell Crowe heads for the set of his new film Beautiful Mind tomorrow after a night of celebrations for getting the best actor Oscar.
