US ELECTIONS: The US Supreme Court is considering a case that could end the race for the Whitehouse. It is not known when there will be a ruling.
ARMY PAY RISES: Defence Minister Mark Burton says that pay increases in the army will be targeted at trades the army has shortages in as well as the lowest paid ranks.
TERTIARY CRISIS: The Government is not revealing any of its strategy for the tertiary sector even though the sector itself says it is in crisis.
PINOCHET: The Chilean Court of Appeal has blocked the arrest order against former Dictator Augusto Pinochet. The court said the former general should have been interrogated first.
FIJI: The Commonwealth Envoy to Fiji says that Fiji is not trying very hard to return to democratic rule.
ECONOMY CLASS SYNDROME: A Melbourne law firm suing several airlines in a class action over blood clots (economy class syndrome) has received numerous calls from New Zealanders.
NATIONAL MAIL: The CEO of National Mail Anthony Fowler says someone will be able to compete with NZ Mail eventually. National Mail is to close with the loss of 200 jobs.
WAGE RISE FOR MASONS: 10 Indian stone-masons imported to work on a Hindu temple in London on $1 a day will receive $350,000 in back-pay.
FISH PESTS: There are calls for more awareness at the impacts of two species of pest fish.
