ISRAEL: The Israeli Defence Force have conducted a wave of attacks against Palestinian targets after a bomb killed two Israeli teachers and injured five children. A senior Palestinian official has accused Israel of choosing the path of war.
DEFENCE DEBATE: The PM says that making the NZ Defence Force more high tech would not help the kind of work it does in the Pacific.
PETROL PRICES: BP says high international demand for petrol and diesel means it cannot rule out further price rises. Prices are now 2 cents below highs reached in August.
US ELECTIONS: The Florida Supreme Court is starting a hearing today which may decide who is the next president of the US. The court will decide whether to allow votes recounted by hand.
JAPAN: The government of the Japanese PM has survived a no-confidence vote in the Japanese Parliament.
RADIOLOGIST SHORTAGE: A severe shortage of radiation therapists has led Auckland hospitals to search overseas for new therapists.
MEDICAL SCHOOL CHANGES: Otago University is looking at making changes at its medical school. A report has suggested several options for change.
NSW FLOODS: Floods have swamped a 5th of New South Wales with 13 river systems flooding.
