Wilson Back In Black – Sex Education – Marriage Bill – Middle East Violence – Bravo 2 Zero Patrol Case

WILSON BACK IN BLACK: All Black Winger Jeff Wilson, 27, is coming out of retirement and has made himself available for the All Blacks and the Otago Highlanders next year. The NZRFU has welcomed the decision.

SEX EDUCATION: Teachers and Parents are getting riled by an Australian evangelist who is talking to teenagers about sex. Students at Avondale College were asked by the preacher to sign a pledge not to have sex till they get married. Students don’t seem overly concerned about it, but think the pledge was a bit odd. Avondale College’s board chairman said he knew nothing about it. Family Planning are not pleased with the content which they say teaches children to fear sex. No more state schools will be hearing from the preacher.

MARRIAGE BILL: NZers demanding the inclusion of the words spouse and marriage in the Relationship Properties Bill have won.

FIJI DRUG BUST: NZ Police have helped uncover $370 million worth of heroin intercepted in a house in Fiji. The crime syndicate – also believed to be involved in smuggling people - had hoped the chaos in Fiji would hide their activities.

MIDDLE EAST VIOLENCE: There is no sign of an end to the violence in the Middle East. Five more Palestinians were killed today. Israeli tanks open fire and kill two. Elsewhere three more stone throwers were shot. PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat has been defending his stone throwers saying they will continue to fight till the Palestinian Flag flies in Jerusalem. Tomorrow Israel’s Parliament will begin its session with a no-confidence vote that could end Ehud Barak’s government and signal early elections. Ariel Sharon is demanding a veto on peace negotiations. Tonight talks are continuing between Barak and Sharon.

BRAVO 2 ZERO: A former SAS soldier today told a court why he wants to publish a book about Iraq. Mike Coburn says the problem started when his unit landed close to Iraqis. Coburn said the problems were with the SAS hierarchy. Coburn says that some of the accounts written by other writers were inaccurate. Coburn said he was pressured into signing a confidentiality agreement. Coburn says he wants to set the record strait.
