CONCORD CRASH: Air France has ruled out the possibility of foul play in the crash of a Concord shortly after taking off from Charles De Gaule Airport in France, which killed over 100 people on board.
- CERVICAL CANCER INQUIRY: A chairman of an ethics committee which considered a national study of cervical cancer says a requirement to keep patients details secret to protect their privacy is hindering investigations into testing.
- CANCER SOCIETY SAYS REVAMP NEEDED: The Cancer Society says the effectiveness of the cervical screening has been constantly compromised and a new system needs to be put in place.
- INDONESIANS COOPERATE: Indonesian authorities are cooperating in the search for a band of militias who shot and killed a new Zealand soldier in East Timor on Monday.
- DOVER SAMUELS NAMING: The heat is going on a former Maori Affairs Minister Dover Samuels with the Prime Minister and Labour Party President accusing Mr. Samuels of abusing Parliamentary privilege by naming the woman who has leveled rape accusations against him
- SAMUELS REPLY: Mr Samuels says he named the victim because of the “continuation” and the constant changing of the allegations leveled against him. He says he and his family are the victims of the case.
- FIJI CRISIS: There is no assurance that the new Parliament will be sworn in today after a meeting with George Speight and the President of Fiji this morning over his concerns of the makeup of the new regime.
- MAORI AFFAIRS MINISTER: Parekura Horomia was officially sworn in as the new Minister Of Maori Affairs this morning. New minor changes to cabinet were also announced.
- CARTERTON GIRL: Police say an autopsy of a 23-month Carterton baby girl shows she had been sexually violated in the three days before she died.
- LISA BLAKIE INQUIRY: Police investigating the killing of Lisa Blakie are interviewing her freinds an associates in the Christchurch region.
- CAMP DAVID TALKS: The Camp David Talks have ended with no agreement after Ehud Barak accused the Palestinians of not coming to a compromise.
- LOTR THEFT: A Wanaka man has been sentenced for 200 hours of community service for stealing props and costumes worth over $200,000 from the Lord of the Rings film set.
