Airways Corp – Transrail Workers - Jewellery Theif - Government Inquiries - Cervical Inquiry - Cellphones & Children

AIRWAYS CORP: Winston Peters has named four Airways employees who he said acted unlawfully using publicly owned assets for private profit. The four executives named by Mr Peters are top brass within the company. A spokesperson from Airways Corporation says Mr Peters allegations are untrue and a gross abuse of Parliamentary privilige. The spokesperson challenges him to repeat these allegations outside of Parliament

TRANSRAIL WORKERS: Meanwhile the family of Transrail worker hit by a train say they are angry at the company for not properly protecting its workers. Meanwhile, the Government has called for an inquiry into safety practices in the company.

JEWELLERY THEIF: Police have made a break-though in the hunt for jewellery stolen from Kelly Tarlton’s last month. A man was arrested by police today however the antique artifacts have yet to be found.

GOVERNMENT INQUIRIES: The Government has received Cabinet papers saying lawyers should be removed from Government inquiries. This would affect Inquiries like the Gisborne Cervical Inquiry. Philida Bunkle, the Alliance MP who initially publicised the women’s cause, said public representatives are an inalienable right for victims.

CERVICAL INQUIRY: A woman whose mother died after her cervical smear test was misdiagnosed by former Gisborne Pathologist Dr. Michael Bottrill says the pain the mistake caused led her to overdose on her mother’s morphine

CELLPHONES & CHILDREN: A new British study warns cell phone emission may be dangerous for children and young people. Scientists here have yet to see the British report but say they are not convinced cell phones cause any damage.
