TEAM NZ DEAL: An end in sight to a row in the Team New Zealand camp. There were last minute negotiations to sort the financing of the next defence. However disagreement about how much the team was worth became public this afternoon, when the Team showed up for their last day of work. Peter Blake’s blunt comments about the team management not facing commercial realities caused concern in the camp. However by the end of the day Manager Brad Butterworth said 80 per cent of the work had been done inThe price for the next defence is estimated to be at least $14 million.
WAITER ATTACKED: Auckland Police charged two men with attempted murder after a brutal attack on an Auckland waiter in the central city this week. Security camera footage aired on national television last night helped police find the alleged culprits. The man attacked, Stephen Burn is severly brain damage and is lapsing in and out of consciousness in hospital.
LISA BLAKIE INQUIRY: An entire community is linked to the hunt for the killer of Invercargil woman Lisa Blakie found murdered in January. Detectives have seized the vehicle believed to have picked up the 20-year-old before her body was found in a Christchurch riverbed. They are questioning the community for details of the car's last movements. The owner of the car has been arrested on unrelated drugs charges. Police have been careful not to implicate the man in Ms Blakie’s murder.
NAVY APOLOGISES: The New Zealand Navy has admitted they were wrong by contesting crew woman Larissa Turner’s claims of sexual harassment on board the frigate Wellington while on duty in the Persian Gulf. The chief of NZ Defence has publicly apologised to Ms Turner and the navy has reached a confidential out-of-court settlement with her.
TRUCK DRIVER CLEARED - A truck driver involved in a horrific road crash which killed six people last week has been absolved of blame by police. They are releasing no other details of the accident at this time.
HELICOPTER VICTIM: One of the four Americans who died in the helicopter crash last week near Palmerston North was a well known politician in Florida.
