While tens of thousands of people were protesting around the world against the WTO, a Philipino group dealt its own blow to Shell, according to a recent report on the n30 - listbot.com - internet mailing list.
The mailing list is used by activist groups to notify each other of actions around the world - many of which have been timed to coincide with the November 30th action in Seattle which led to the declaration of a state of emergency in downtown Seattle on Wednesday (NZT).
In the posting it is reported that militants from a group calling itself the Proletarian Revolutionary Army shattered the windows and metal facade of Shell's multi-story glass fronted headquarters in the financial area of Manila, when they opened fire with automatic weapons and a rocket propelled grenade from a passing van.
The rebels escaped, and - in a phonecall to a local radio station - told Shell that there would be "more intense actions" if it increases petrol prices again..
