The best kept secret of the election campaign

Published: Tue 30 Nov 1999 09:17 AM
The labour Party has apologised to a West Auckland family after party president Bob Harvey lowered his pants and abused a man in public.
Mr Harvey who is also the mayor of Waitakere admitted the allegations of Titirangi resident Chris Seager yesterday.
Seagar said he was walking his dog around 7.30am around the end of October when Harvey pulled up in his car and prepared to go for a run.
Harvey and Seagar were known to each other as they had clashed at a number of meetings. The two became embroiled in an argument and Seager was walking away when Harvey shouted an offensive remark.
Seagar says Harvey then lowered his trousers and exposed himself.
Harvey however says he merely pulled down a corner of his jogging shorts, yelled “kiss that you fuck”, gave Seagar the fingers and ran off.
Labour campaign manager Mike Williams confirmed he had apologised to the Seagar family on Saturday but would make no further comment.
Didn't they do well to keep that under wraps for a month?
